Episode Overview: "Wink of an Eye"

In this episode, the USS Enterprise responds to a distress call from the planet Scalos. Upon arrival, the landing party finds the city deserted, with no signs of life. However, Captain Kirk hears a persistent, insect-like buzzing sound, which others do not perceive.

This buzzing is eventually revealed to be the voices of the Scalosians, a race of beings who exist in a state of hyper-acceleration, moving so rapidly that they are invisible and inaudible to the crew. To those at normal speed, their presence manifests only as a high-pitched buzzing noise .

The Scalosians have been affected by radiation that accelerated their metabolism, rendering their males sterile. In an effort to preserve their species, they plan to abduct members of the Enterprise crew to use as breeding stock. They be00gin by accelerating Captain Kirk to their temporal plane, making him perceive the rest of the crew as 

Eventually, Spock also accelerates himself to assist Kirk. Together, they manage to thwart the Scalosians' plan and restore normal conditions aboard the 0-0
