Human history can be viewed as the gradual expansion of shared meta-light.

In early societies, coherence existed primarily within small groups. Meaning was shared through direct communication and common experience. The circle of shared awareness was limited.

With the development of language, writing, and cultural traditions, this circle expanded. Knowledge could persist across generations, allowing larger communities to maintain coherent understanding over time.

The scientific revolution marked another major expansion. By establishing shared methods for discovering truth, science enabled humanity to build increasingly reliable collective knowledge.

Modern communication technologies have accelerated this process dramatically. Information now travels instantly across the globe, connecting billions of minds into a vast network of shared awareness.

Moral development has followed a similar pattern. Over centuries, human concern has gradually extended beyond immediate kin and tribe toward broader concepts of universal human rights and global responsibility.
